Bridalwear for the curvey girl comes to Sheffield.

For years I have been disappointed with the bridal wear that is out there for girls who are larger than a size 16. It was almost like the industry had forgotten them or assumed that fuller figure brides had a desire to hide their beautiful figures underneath vast amounts of tulle.

Well Im please to say after 5 years of searching we have found a collection that I feel is worthy of becoming part of the Freya Bridal family.

Sonsie is an amazing collection designed by Jason Jennings. It was also the first collection to use a size 20 model in their advertising and publicity shots.

Jason has used his wealth of experience designing David Fielden, where he spent 8 years, to design his Ultimate fit awarding winning gowns.

Sheffield's curvy brides no longer have to avoid beautiful bridal shops in the fear that the consultants will laugh because nothing will fit them.

Not only that but if you keep your eyes peeled we regulary hold evenings where our specialist fitters are avaliable solely to serve our Sonsie brides.

Believe you me these gowns a worth a try. The Ultimate Fit corsetry is amazing and the dresses are so beautiful that Im getting brides who are smaller than a size 18 requesting that I bring them into store in smaller sizes.

The Sonsie collection retails from £700 to £1100 including all alterations.

Vintage inspired wedding gowns from Freya Bridal Sheffield.

The brides who visit our beautiful boutique in Sheffield often tell me they are having a vintage themed wedding. And why not it was such a beautiful and elegant era.

Our recent photoshoot at Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield was my inspiration for this article.

In my opinion when choosing a gown it is essential that your gown reflect not only your personal style, but the feel of the venue as well.

Many of our surrounding venues have beautiful grounds and Whirlowbrook Hall was no exception. Brides lucky enough to marry at Whirlowbrook will be able to tie in a vintage theme effortlessly.

To make full use of the venue the majority of the wedding photos will be taken outside. The gowns I have chosen for this particular theme are elegant and simple. It is important that the gown be manageable and not heavy. An understated silhouette is most appropriate for a Whirlowbrook wedding, as you don’t want the gown to detract from the natural beauty and ambience of the surroundings.

Valencia By Johanna Hehir

This gown is for the bride who is going for a slightly more modern and sophisticated look. The embellished belt at the waist adds waist definition and provides a little bit of vintage flair.

Mille by Sassi Holford

This lace fishtail gown designed by Sassi Holford with a key hole back has an understated grace that lends itself perfectly to a vintage soiree held at Whirlowbrook Hall.

For me this gown has an understated elegance perfect for our vintage theme. Jolie by Augusta Jones has very subtle beading on the neckline and the silhouette is simple enough, that it worked beautifully for our vintage brides.

This gown with matching bolero jacket is accented with a silver metallic lace. The ethereal silhouette and the vintage inspired details of the gown, provide a romantic feel with a little embellishment that make it a perfect selection for a Whirlowbrook wedding.

Ashten by Augusta Jones is a Freya Bridal favourite. I think our bride Katie Sedler styled it perfectly for vintage inspired wedding.

If you are planning your own vintage inspired wedding in Sheffield then why not visit Freya Bridal and have a consultation with our staff who will be able to advise you and help you chose your most perfect wedding gown.
